Zarah Sultana

I interviewed Zarah Sultana during the Your Party leadership election, while she was running on the Grassroots Left slate. With US intervention in Venezuela, threats towards Greenland and renewed questions about NATO and Israel, foreign policy was central to the conversation.

Sultana had repeatedly presented Ireland's national-security model as evidence that the UK could remain safe outside NATO. Having grown up around the Irish military through my father's work as a peacekeeper, I wanted to challenge whether that comparison accurately reflected Ireland's position.
